Looking like a direct response to Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evo sedan, the big news here was the world debut of the first ever WRX STi four-door, right.

Still making 305 hp from its 2.5-litre flat four, both the new sedan and the existing STi hatch also receive a new, lowered suspension, bushings, springs, thicker stabilizer bars and 245/40R 18 tires.

The regular 256 hp WRX, above left, in both hatch and sedan models, arrives this summer, but now with last year’s WRX STi’s wide body styling. Subaru says this allows for wider wheel tracks and 235/45R 17-inch rubber.

Both new WRXs arrive in Canadian dealerships late summer.
