In a special event at the John Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada handed out three special Innovation Awards, following a conference by the University of Toronto Transportation Research Institute on the future of mobility in the Greater Toronto Area. The curated collection of vehicles in Auto Exotica — this year included brands such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Tesla and the North American debut of the first Dubai-built car the Devel Sixteen — is consistently rated by AutoShow fans as one of their favourite feature exhibits of the event. In total, 30 luxury and exotic cars were on showcase in Auto Exotica, presented by Castrol and the National Post, worth a combined value exceeding $30 million.  Click here to read more about your dream car that was featured!

Marking 75 years since the D-Day landings in Normandy and the Road to Rome, key pieces of military hardware that were crucial to our war effort in the Second World War was the spotlight, complemented by a display of vehicles currently used by the Canadian Armed Forces. The installation is courtesy the Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum — home to Canada's largest collection of operational historical military vehicles including tanks, trucks, Jeeps and more — and 32 Canadian Brigade Group. During a special pre-event ceremony at the Canadian International AutoShow, the SportPesa Racing Point Formula 1 Team — with Canadian driver Lance Stroll and Mexican Sergio Perez forming an all-North American lineup — unveiled its new look and name in front of a crowd of fans, media and special guests at the John Bassett Theatre in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Barrett-Jackson showcased a sample of some of the most prized cars in collections from across Canada, plus — for the first time in Canada — some of the most prized muscle cars from the personal collection of Craig Jackson himself. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Barrett-Jackson is a global leader in collector car auctions and automotive lifestyle events. The Petersen Automotive Museum — one of the largest and most respected automotive museums in the world — brought a sampling of these unique vehicles from its curated collection to showcase at the 2019 Canadian International AutoShow. Customized low riders and hot rods have become an integral part of the SoCal streetscape, made famous by the richly diverse Latino communities in and around Los Angeles. Click here to view images of the collection!

Attracting crowds that are challenging the attendance record set last year final figures will be available Monday), this year’s event wrapped with the crowing of Raceboy77 (Airdrie, Alberta's Even Thorogood) as Canada’s fastest driver in the WorldGaming Pfaff Forza Motorsport 7 Canadian Challenge, Driven by Castrol. In taking home the $7,500 cash prize and a chance to participate in a one-day Pfaff Motorsports driver shootout event at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Raceboy77 dominated the two heats of the Grand Finals — racing a McLaren 570S on Virginia International Speedway and a Porsche 911 GT2RS on Road America. FT Hotsaucer (David Bigauskas from Toronto) took the $4,000 second-place prize and SSR Mosport (Adrian Koniarz, Mississauga) finished third, winning $2,000.

This year, consumers learned more about the electric vehicle movement, autonomous technology and test drive some of the latest electric vehicles on the market today.
